I found this promo spot from the film in which I worked on as a P.A. (Production Assistant) last spring break. Although there are no shots of the filming that took place at Ensenada (where I had the opportunity to work), it still looks pretty good.

DIAF Pictures UPDATE!
Hello, readers!
Well, it's been a while... I know, don't rub it in.
So I'll just tell you what I've been up to.
a) I am back in film-school (yippee-ki-yay).
b) I was hired to edit 2 short films for some fellow filmmakers at SWC (Southwestern College) and it was a new experience for me, I've worked under the direction of a lot of different people (most of the time under my brother's) and each time I learn something new. My friends at SWC were first timers so I was more than happy to help them out and hope to work with them in the future.
c) I am currently embarking in a whole new chapter for DIAF & Co. Entertainment, PRODUCING. That's right you've heard me, this year DIAF is not filming a big movie. Instead I have decided to settle down a bit and help others launch their careers, produce little projects of mine, work in other productions (I was a P.A in the new Alexandre Rockwell film, "Pete Smalls is Dead"), and something that is being more demanding, directing music videos.
d) As mentioned before there will be no big movie this year, due to health issues and money problems. We want to bring this story to you right and in the best quality possible. So, it will have to wait.
e) I am currently in pre-production for a short-film at UDC film school (Universidad de las Californias). More on this as it develops.

The mûxìk experience pt.3
Hello, again!
Like I mentioned previously in this blog, I was asked by my friends (Goyo, Castillo & Ordu) to record their band's private live show. And I did. It was a totally new experience for me, although I had already done something similar before when I was in middle school. Directing a live performance or event is a bitch! Explaining to your camera people what type of shots you want, telling them you don't want zoom-in's or zoom-out's all the time, "keep the camera steady" type of instructions... need I go on?
Anyway, it turned out pretty ok. As most of my work, it is all saved in the editing room. There's still a pretty long way to go. I'm only halfway done with the whole freakin' thing! It runs up to an hour ERT (estimated running time). You understand my pain? No, you don't.
We we're supposed to upload some of the songs by now. We kinda did, but fucking Youtube screwed up the video codec and we had to take it down. So expect a new upload soon. In the mean time, I have taken the liberty of posting some screen caps. ENJOY!

"TESTIFY! The Road to a Genetic Opera"
Boy, that was a long break! Sorry folks, a lot has happened in my life that has kept me from posting on this blog. Anyways, down to business!
Now I had this project in a shelf for some months and I finally got around to it.
I was assigned a documentary for my screenwriting class, so I took the shot and turned "RRT3" into a 30 min "wanna-be" documentary (my first actually).
What I am trying to do with this video is to show what Repo! is. It is basically Ralqui and me on our way to L.A for RRT3, in that time there's an explanation and back story of Repo! (very general aspects) and how I discovered it. There's some footage of RRT3 and various videos (of which I don't own the rights!).
Anyways, I thought it to be a pretty decent piece of work and will try to upload it if I can (I'm afraid of all the lawsuits involved due to copyright). Here are some screencaps. Enjoy!

"BTH2: The Gathering"
In the year 2007, after filming "DIAF's The Tell-Tale Heart", I embarked on a little production to help some friends out. It started off as a "Scream" parody, then it became a horror movie parody, and finally it became a B-movie. But, not just any B-movie, an indie-B-movie by DIAF.
A mix of "SAW" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" with a little speck of romance and "Bury the Hatchet" was born. I tried to compensate the fact that the people in it were not (and are still not) actors, plus the shoddy quality of the camera we had and the small amount of time for filming, by making this indie-B-movie a Grindhouse Tribute. We did it in 10 hours and after some serious editing, the first screening came by. Now I was not expecting this to be a good movie, but the audience loved it! And so, I closed the chapter on my B-movie adventures.
Forward to 2008, another similar situation. I had no film whatsoever that year and I needed one for my english composition class. Now, I had a group of poor-english speaking non-actors, a digital minDV camera this time and 2 weeks to do it. My classmates decided to do a horror movie because I was in their team, and they know that blood is one of my specialities. So, I wrote a little story about a group of friends and a party they had and how a maniac kills them all. Now after writing this film, we decided that the title would be "The Last Gathering". For me it sounded as a cheap alien flick, but it worked. First day of shooting, we finished one third of the film and I head on home. I was sitting on my computer when I look at my hatchet (which has been used in "DIAF's The Tell-Tale Heart", "BTH", "BTH2" & "Voutre Cené") and it suddenly came to me, this crappy movie will be the "cheap-quel" for my previous crappy-B-indie-movie "BTH"! And it totally worked! The same Grindhouse formula was used and this one had even more success.
And now I am proud to announce the RE-RELEASE of "BURY THE HATCHET 2: The Gathering" with an ALL-NEW score by DIAF.
I know what you're thinking, "oh, it's the same movie only with different music"... WRONG!
It is still the same movie, but I changed the look of it. It has different shots, remastered sound, better effects and a bunch of stuff more! This is the definitive version of "BTH2".
Where can you see it? Well, the re-release is targeted for Halloween '09 along the original "BTH" (Director's Cut w/new score), but... You may be able to catch an early screening if you go to "Corto Creativo '09" (@ Cinemastar Plaza Americana, Otay - Date to be confirmed).
